How To get Started with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

In this article, I will discuss how easily you can create a new account in GCP and begin provisioning new virtual machines. But before that, let’s discuss what is GCP is.

What is GCP

According to Wiki, Google Cloud Platform, offered by Google, is a suite of cloud computing services that runs on the same infrastructure that Google uses internally for its end-user products, such as Google Search, Gmail, file storage, and YouTube.

So it means GCP is a cloud computing platform developed by Google. Its competitors in the industry are AWS and Azure. According to this report in Kinsta, Google has a 4% market share in the cloud computing industry.

GCP gives $300 credit if you signup. Here I have displayed, how you can create a new VM instance. Then I have installed Apache, PHP and pointed the server to a subdomain. I have another article on how to create a virtual host in Apache here.

After that, I installed letsencrypt to provide https support.

Conclusion

GCP is one of the leading Cloud Computing platforms at this moment along with AWS and Azure. GCP gives a $300 credit for all those new users who subscribe to this cloud platform. I think this is a great opportunity to experiment with the platform and learn more about how it can benefit you in your career in the long run.
